Top 9 Reasons to Install Carpet Tile
June 12, 2020What to Look for in a Commercial Flooring Contractor
June 15, 2020Before Commercial Flooring & Interior Concepts arrives for your carpet installation, we first ask that you review our checklist for a night-time carpet installation. We want the installation process to go as smoothly and quickly as possible, and clearing off furniture and desks is the best way to assist us.
Please review this checklist prior to your appointment:
Checklist for Night-time Carpet Installation: Furniture Moving
- All materials should be cleaned off of desks before moving. Desks sometimes need to be turned on their sides in order to remove them from the room, so the contents from each desk must be packed up.
- Please unplug all computers and phones and remove them prior to our installation.
- Bookcase contents should be boxed.
- Materials and papers that are typically stored on the floor should be also boxed.
- Any furniture that is built into the floor will have the carpeting cut around it. You may leave all contents and computers on the built-in furniture.
- Large, five-drawer lateral files should have the top 3 drawers unpacked. If the cabinets are light and not packed with papers, it is possible that they will be moved in one unit. Please be aware that some of the lighter-gauge steel filing cabinets can bend and get ruined if they are not unpacked prior to moving. Two- and three-drawer filing cabinets can remain full.
Checklist for Night-time Carpet Installation: System Furniture “Lift”
- Personal contents in each cubicle should be boxed.
- Materials and papers stored on the floor should be also boxed.
- Materials and papers stored on top of any furniture systems should also be packed, so as to prevent paper avalanches or lost documents.
- Computers should be turned off, unplugged, and placed on the desk.

As an aside, please let us know if there is special furniture and/or equipment on the floor, i.e., leased copiers, soda machines, A/V materials, etc. Equipment of that kind must be moved by that specific vendor, or it may void your warranty.
Also remember to empty all shredding bins, moving crates, and individual employee trash bins. Additionally, remember to inform your IT department, security department, and housekeeping if necessary prior to the appointment.
