Summer 2022 Commercial Flooring Trends
June 28, 2022Commercial Flooring Technologies to Watch for in 2022 and Beyond
August 23, 2022Here’s the truth: not all commercial spaces are fit for just one type of flooring.
Too often, carpet is required to give a private office an inviting look and easy-to-clean vinyl for a break room. In these cases, it’s important to focus on the transition between types of flooring to give the overall space a less abrupt look because while your customers may not notice a transition, they’ll certainly see if the space lacks one where it’s needed. So, today we’re exploring our top tips for creating the ideal commercial flooring transition.
1. Align Hard and Soft Surfaces
For larger, more open spaces, it’s essential to match the approximate height of your soft surface with that of your hard surface. This negates the need for a bulky vinyl transition and creates a seamless look. Compact carpet tiles are an excellent option for those looking for a smooth flooring product that aligns with their flat flooring product, such as wood or laminate.
2. Finishing Profiles
If your two products are jarringly different, consider adding a finishing profile to clean up the space. Finishing profiles are dividers made to tidy up the area between two flooring types. They can conceal rough edges, varying heights, and general differences in flooring that make the space look unkempt.
3. Keep It in the (Color) Family
Sometimes the best thing you can do to ensure an effortless transition is to keep color in mind when choosing your products. While this may feel limiting at first in the styles you can choose, you don’t have to be as strict as only selecting blue tile to match an already blue carpet. Color families are divisions of colors in various tones that compliment each other. Some color shades, such as turquoise and orange, may not look like they would be compatible, but they can be within the same color family and create a beautiful aesthetic.
